What is a Postpartum Doula?

Join Lori in this ODIS (Organization for Doulas in Sweden) approved four day comprehensive Postpartum Doula training.  A Postpartum Doula is someone that supports the new parents and infant or infants in the postpartum period or fourth trimester.  The Fourth Trimester refers to the first 12 weeks after birth where the baby transitions from womb to world and the new parents transition into care of their tiny babe. The Postpartum Doula comes to the home and helps with feeding, healing in the postpartum period, sleep, light housekeeping, light cooking, and emotional support during this transition. Included in the class is certification in Infant CPR as well as mentoring with Lori.  Why a Postpartum Doula training?  A Postpartum Doula training gives Birth Doulas another level of expertise when working with their clients in the postpartum period as well as is an opportunity to specialize in the postpartum period alone for those wishing.  Upon completion of this course, participants will receive an ODIS Postpartum Doula diploma.

ODIS Birth Doula Training

Do you want to become a Birth Doula in Sweden?

Since 2012 FörlossningsGruppen has trained new Doulas here in Gothenburg that are now working in different parts around Sweden, but also in other parts of the world.

We are now delighted to announce that from 2023 we also offer a Birth Doula course completely taught in English for those who do not have Swedish as their first language. Unique to this course is that it not only gives you all the knowledge and tools to start working as a Doula anywhere in the world, but it also prepares you specifically for working with births within the Swedish care system.

The course follows the same course plan and is, like our popular Doula Training in Swedish, fully approved by ODIS (the Organization for Doulas in Sweden). ODIS is the only organization in Sweden that quality assures Doula education and Doulas, making sure their approved courses are of a high standard and can compare to international standard Doula courses worldwide. Training as a Doula with us prepares you to start working as a Birth Doula directly after completion of the course and getting your Diploma and gives you the opportunity to become a member of ODIS with a profile to market yourself from the start. You can also apply for a further certification by ODIS after your first three assignments.

With us at FörlossningsGruppen you get a top quality education. Welcome!
