Klara
Hello, I’m Klara and I’m really pleased that you’re here, wanting to know a little more about me. You can take the girl out of the UK but the teacup is coming with! That’s right, I’m a tea addict, rarely without a cup and you’ll know I’ve been somewhere as there is usually a box of PG Tips left behind, but that’s a story for another time.
I’m from the north east of England and I’ve lived here in Gothenburg since 2008. The usual story, I’m here for love. Back in 2010, 5 years after meeting the above mentioned Swede, I fell head over heels in love with something new. That love was the world of new experiences being pregnant brought me.
Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t lucky enough to be one of the women who loved being pregnant, who glowed constantly, quite the opposite, but I thrived off the journey to meeting my baby, seeing what my body was capable of and wanting to know every possible bit of information. Information not only relevant to my pregnancy but pregnancy and birth in general. When friends who were pregnant at the same time, didn’t share my overwhelming curiosity, it made me realize a fire had been lit inside of me. And so here I am today. A fertility treatment warrior, Mum of 4 including a set of twins (also known as organized chaos) certified ODIS doula, certified VBAC doula (CD,TVL) Hypnobirthing instructor, Birthblessings facilitator, Three Step Rewind Practitioner, and Childbirth Educator.
I see birth as an exhilarating, liberating and more obviously, life changing experience, when both the process and the birthing family, are given the respect they deserve. Evidence based information and informed choice are core values in my work.
As your doula, I will honour your birthing experience by recognizing birth as a normal and natural process, however you choose to birth. I will listen to and advocate for your wishes where needed although more importantly, I will help guide you, so you feel confident enough to advocate for yourself. I offer inclusive, individualized, emotional and physical support in the familiar surroundings of your own home or at your chosen hospital. I will provide effective communication between yourselves and the midwifery team to create an atmosphere of balance in the birthing room. It goes without saying, that when it comes to your chosen birth partner, I’ll make sure they have what they need and are involved in every step of the process because their energy and involvement plays a huge role in your joint experience.
YOUR BIRTH. YOUR CHOICE. MY SUPPORT.
Klara!

Vicky

I am a Certified Birth Doula through ODIS (the Organisation of Doulas In Sweden) as well as an ODIS-certified Childbirth Educator and Postpartum Doula. In addition to this I am a certified Hypnobirthing Teacher and founder of Hypnofödsel® and one of Sweden’s few Kangaroulas (Google it!). I’m also a Breastfeeding Counselor, a trained and listed Aktiv Baby Instructor with good knowledge and experience of these and Spinning Babies’ techniques and am trained in Body- and Ear Acupressure and Acupuncture for pregnancy, labour and birth. Apart from being part of the Doulas of Gothenburg team, I also run FörlossningsGruppen® together with Frida Lundgren, where we provide Swedish Doula support and birth preparation and regularly run ODIS-accredited Doula Training courses (I also teach one in English from 2023!), mentoring, continuing education and workshops for Doulas.
Before becoming a Doula I worked since 2004 as a Certified Massage Therapist, Pilates Instructor and Personal Trainer specialised in pregnancy and the postnatal period, as well as with Pregnancy Yoga and have a background as a professional dancer in contemporary dance. From 2024 I am also a certified teacher in therapeutic Medical Yoga for women, HormonyYoga and a Hormone and Lifestyle Coach for women, focussing on Women’s health and wellbeing through all ages from puberty to post-menopause and beyond and am very pleased to be opening up my own studio Meridiem in Eriksberg where I am offering my services.
Having grown up with an English Godmother that I met daily here in Gothenburg (and therefor spoke English from learning to speak) as well as having lived the first decade of my adult life in the UK where I also met my husband, I am fully fluent in both languages and easily switch between them. We have been blessed with four children and our main language at home is English. Our first child was born in in the North of England in 2006, the three youngest were born at home here in Sweden in 2009, 2012 and 2018.
As a Doula and course leader I describe myself as positive, engaged, perceptive and responsive to the individual needs of each pregnant and birthing person as well as of their partner. I aim to empower you in your birth and postpartum preparation giving evidence based information to help you make informed choices that are right for you and your baby and help you feel confident and calm. As a doula I can also give the continuous emotional, physical and practical support you both need though this special journey, no matter what kind of birth you have. I will support your individual choices, whatever they may be, when you find your own path from pregnancy to parenthood.
My goal is that you have as positive an experience as possible of labour, birth and the early days, and above all that you feel held and supported, so that you can have the best possible start to the really exciting journey – the one of meeting and getting to know your new family member, and yourselves as parents.

Sydney
Hej!! I’m Sydney, an American lady living here in Gothenburg, Sweden. 🌞 Thanks for heading over to this new space, it’s been a long time coming 🙂 In more recent years, I’ve felt a deep calling into the realm of birth work, but I didn’t know how exactly that was going to unfold. And then, like many others, the flame that sparked it all: my own postpartum journey. I’ll get into that story another time – since then I’ve been trained as a postpartum doula and earned a certification as a breastfeeding specialist. Guided by the principles of deeply nourishing whole foods, my approach is centered on holistic well-being. I’m very excited to share this journey and to be on the front lines of this important work, bringing more awareness to the increasing postpartum support available here in Sweden. Let’s walk this path together. 🌈 ❤️🌞
